Are you wondering what to give yourself this holiday? Looking for something fun, exciting, social, challenging, and fulfilling? Try dancing. Give yourself some ballroom dance lessons at Arthur Murray Dance Studio in Santa Monica.

Dancing is a great way to have fun, get in shape, learn a new skill, challenge yourself, set new goals, meet new people, and realize new dreams.

When you take ballroom dancing lessons your brain comes alive. You are moving with a partner and dancing to the music. The brain is churning as patterns are linked and put into sequences. The movement on the floor is always changing and we are adapting all of this at the same time.

If you are following, you are an integral part of partnership dancing. When we dance together, the partnership and connection that we share makes dancing come alive. A great follower will assist the leader with rhythm, body movement, dance frame, ease of movement with all the steps and a quick response to all leads. A follower will also help if another couple is getting to run into you, or if someone is backing up into you.

When you take dance lessons, it is another world of fun for you. You are surrounded by excellent professional dancers and all levels of students. You’ll need dance shoes and you’ll learn to dress for dancing. Your grooming gets a reboot as you are aware of dancing close to another person, and you will always have fresh breath and a good scent. You’ll even dress for dancing. It’s fun!

Dancing shows us how to ask and accept a dance invitation, and most of all, how hold another person in dance position while dancing. This all takes knowledge, skill, expertise, courage, and practice.

Who doesn’t like to be around someone who have mastered all the social skills of the dance floor? Dancers refine their ballroom etiquette and polish their floor craft on the dance floor.

So, if you are wondering what to do this December, may I suggest starting with some dance lessons. Start with a package of lessons and give your teacher a chance to lay a good foundation, get to know you, and plan a wonderful dancing future. If you are already dancing, plan a dance competition for 2026!

By the way, I’m planning “Super January 2026” since we lost our January 2025 this past year due to the Palisades Fire. I’m giving myself hope for wonderful new year of dancing and success in teaching dancing. Come to our school. We are excited for 2026 and looking forward to our best year in our history.

Our theme is “Turns and Kicks in ‘26”. Give us a call and change your life.

Thank you for reading and Keep on Dancing!
