Changing Lives through Dancing by David Woodbury
Arthur Murray Santa Monica
Here we are at the end of 2024. It was a year of “The Comeback”, a year of renewal and growth after making it through 2020. What a journey!
Now, our theme at Arthur Murray Santa Monica is “Dance and Thrive in ‘25”. This will be our best year ever in Santa Monica. We have great teachers and wonderful students and we have renewed hopes and dreams. We are Dream Makers! We will make our goals and fulfill all our plans through great dancing, super service to our students, and lots and lots of great dance training!
My motto for 2020 was “See Clearly in 20/20”. We were having our banner year. Then we closed our doors on March 20, 2020 at our peak for a total of 180 days.
We turned on a dime and we saved our school teaching on Zoom and keeping the magic happening via the Internet.
As I look back, I can see how all that time made me even stronger and more resilient and tougher. And now, all who made it through are even more secure and successful than ever before.
For me personally, I have recently had a renewal. It is a renewal of mind, body and spirit. I’m not sure what happened, but it’s so very real to me.
I have just lost 62 pounds and I have 26 more to get my diabetes under control. These last pounds are killers, but oddly their loss will save my life regarding my A1C sugar count.
My dancing has returned, and I feel better every day not carrying around 8 bags of groceries (my lost weight). So, I will now get new clothes, and even new shoes!
My spirit is strong after many years of regular faithful meditation.
My mind is going crazy with my “50Books25” reading challenge for 2025. I can’t wait until the stroke of Midnight on January 1st to begin my first 5 books for January. My mind has reawakened.
I have new hope. The dream killers have no power. The dream makers are knocking on my heart’s door every day. I have a renewed vision. I feel ALIVE inside.
Here’s to a great 2025.
Thank you for reading and Keep on Dancing!
