Our Dancing Goals

You can’t climb up to the second floor without a ladder. When you set
your aim too high and don’t fulfill it, then your enthusiasm turns to
bitterness. Try for a goal that’s reasonable, and then gradually
raise it. That’s the only way to get to the top.– Emil Zatopek (1922-) Czech Middle Distance Runner

My motto was to keep swinging. Whether I was in a slump or feeling
badly or having trouble off the field, the only thing to do was to
keep swinging.– Hank Aaron (1934-) American Baseball Player (Retired)

I love to set goals. I have several To Do lists running all at the same time. Also, I’m a digital saver. I look back on Goal Sheets and To Do lists from the past and I’m always surprised to see that I have accomplished most of what was on the sheet.

Imagine if I had not written them down? Imagine if the dream was not spoken, acknowledged, declared and defined? Are some of my goals too big? Are they too early? Are they the right goals for me? There are many answers to these questions. Yes, some goals are not right for this very moment, but they will be possible in the future. Some of my goals are in the dream realm. Some are practical. Some have not been started. Some have been accomplished and have fallen away, and need a resurrection.

At least I have my hopes, goals, and dreams. Perhaps, one of your goals will come to you 10 years from now. Perhaps one of your goals will come true tomorrow. It’s better to at least have the vision and strive for it rather than not have a dream at all.

There are no unrealistic dreams, just unrealistic timelines.– Nido Qubein, president of High Point University

Try this. It won’t hurt you. Sit quietly with a pen and paper, a cup of tea, some great music, and begin to write. Write on the top “My Dreams”. What do you want spiritually, mentally, emotionally, and physically? What do you want with your faith, health, weight, relationships, lifestyle, and career?

Then, write what you are willing to do to make those dreams come true? Do you have the time and money, commitment and energy and support to make these dreams come true? Do you have a support system? Do you have a plan “B”?

After this session, then declare your goals to a mentor, someone you trust. In fact, find several people you trust and confide in them your plans. After you iron out the wrinkles, make a bold proclamation statement of what you are going to do and then TAKE ACTION.

Have the character to make the start, continue with focus, and finish and complete the goal.

Some people say I have attitude – maybe I do. But I think you have
to. You have to believe in yourself when no one else does – that
makes you a winner right there.– Venus Williams US tennis champion

With dancing we begin with one step at a time. We put one foot in front of the other. We begin with the end result in mind.
