“Its very hard to have ideas. It’s very hard to put yourself out there, it’s very hard to be vulnerable, but those people who do that are the dreamers, the thinkers, and the creators. They are the magic people of the world.” -Amy Poehler

Do you want to be a dreamer, a thinker, and a creator? It’s possible for all of us to do all three.

To dream, you must begin in a moment of realization of what your heart is saying you to do. It might be the dream of starting dancing lessons, writing a book, or fulfilling a lifetime goal that has been calling to you.

How about being a thinker?  Around my house, I have a post note and pen dispenser in every corner. An idea comes my way and I pull out a postie and sharpie and write it down. Then, I take a pic of the note with my phone to not lose the idea. Next to my bed, I have a journal with a special pen. The pen tip has a light in it. I often awaken in the middle of the night and I put on my glasses, grab my paper and then click on the lighted pen and I began to write down my dream, record the idea that I just had. It is fun and exciting! I look forward to dreaming. I remember and the ideas are amazing.

Do you think you are a creator? The answer is YES, you are a creator! You are a creator while you are reading this. You are a creator when you plan your route to you next destination. You are a creator when you are with friends and have a conversation. You are a creator when you are dancing and navigating a crowded dance floor. You are a creator when you go to the market, purchase your next book to read, when you are planning a vacation. You are creating each and every day!

I am not afraid of being vulnerable. It’s the price we pay for having ideas and sharing them with others. New ideas require a change and that is not always easy for all. Sometimes I feel that I am untrainable, and immediately I give myself a good shimmy-shake and I take on new ideas and ways of doing things. I am always challenging myself to achieve new goals.

This is a great key on how to get started with your new idea. Take a dance lesson. Try a new, unfamiliar dance, try the dance at a studio social party, then learn and perform a spotlight with that new dance. You will feel such a sense of accomplishment and you will be able to do it again with other dances. You will then feel that you are one of the magic people in the world!

Be brave. Just take the first step and you will be dreaming, thinking, and creating and you will feel the magic!

Thank you for reading and Keep on Dancing!
