“Dance Your Way Through the Holidays in 2023”

Oh my goodness, Halloween is over! It’s cold and it’s dark at 5:30 PM. We still have 60 more days of shorter days until December 21st at the Winter Solstice! The Halloween candy is almost gone, and Christmas is in every store.

Because of our schedule, we pulled up part of our decorating boxes today, and will start this weekend. We have a lot of weekend events and we always get an early start so we may enjoy the holiday cheer in front of our three trees in our home! Hot coco, Christmas music in front of the tree…yes to all the above!

I just ordered more tree lights today from Amazon, remembering that I threw out all the bad strings last year. So much to do! The finalization of our Holiday Cards is now and I’m ready to start addressing and stamping all of them this Saturday.

The sorrow in this year is that it will be the first holiday in 15 years without our two sweet kitties. They died suddenly in April, just 17 days apart. Boo died suddenly then Teenie, who was healthy, died of a broken heart. She quickly faded away after Sigmund passed. We could not save her. She just could not go on without him.

They were our Christmas. It was just like having two little children and they loved when the boxes came up from the basement. They jumped in them, on them and they were all over the tree. Once we finished the tree, they were directly under tripping out just enjoying the sparkles and the lovely warm lights.

Christmas morning, in the early moments of the day, we gave them their stockings (a big one each) and they played with all their toys and then zoned out with the catnip. After taking about 100 photos, we then had our coffee and our own Christmas while they played kicking all their little mousies around and attacking their stuffed Christmas cat ornaments. It was so much fun for so many years.

This year I will rely on dancing through the Holidays with Arthur Murray. First, we celebrate Medal Ball this Sunday. I love this event. It honors the students and their accomplishments through graduating the Arthur Murray levels.

Then, we have the ball I love the most, The Murray Christmas Party. It will be 400+ attending, dressed to the hilt in Holiday Costumes, a live orchestra with singers, and a HUGE dance floor. Lunch and Toys for Tots. Then, the Professional Show is done with Holiday costumes and all to seasonal music. So lovely. I love this event!

Then we have the Holiday Star Ball Showcase the closes out the year. Such an elegant competition and ball.

Along with all this is our staff party, the Chamber of Commerce party, Staff Holiday Bonus Day, and the studio Christmas and New Year’s Party! Yes, we will dance through the Holidays. I need this so much this year and I look forward to all the great events coming our way.

I won’t have time for the blues or sadness. I’ll be counting my blessings and celebrating the season and the reason for the season. I also remember so many who are not as blessed in their work, family and home lives as I am. Those with no tree or presents and no holiday food. I am thankful for all those who work so hard to help feed and give to all those who go without this season.

I remember those with loss and health issues and those with no one to celebrate with. I am so thankful for 47 years with Arthur Murray Dance who has given me a lifetime of joy, happiness and a million reasons to celebrate in my life.

Need a lift and something new this holiday season? Call Arthur Murray and take a dance lesson and find out all the ways to celebrate with dancing. You’ll be glad you did, and it will give you a jingle in your step.

Don’t blink, it will be January before you know it. Enjoy the moments. Enjoy the season!
